We are lucky here in
Northumberland. Not only do we have the unspoilt countryside but also the
coastline, sheltered behind the Cheviot Hills. There are a host of
interesting things to do and see such as ... Walking - The ideal base for exploring the beautiful
Northumberland coast and countryside. There is some wonderful walking in the
area. If you are looking for a walking holiday look at Contours or sherpa
walking holidays. If you are planning your own walking holiday then we

Castle on Holy Island - Cragside Hall and are very own Dunstanburgh
Castle, former stronghold of John 'O' Gaunt, is a short walk from the
hotel. Bird Watching -
Visit the bird and seal colonies and you can arrange diving on the Farne Islands
which are also the scene of Grace Darling's heroic rescue. Regular boat trips
can be taken from nearby Seahouses. Arrange birdwatching
here on a day trip to Lindisfrne and other
popular birdwatching sites Golf - There are
many courses and links in the area, all offering good golf at reasonable
prices. They vary from excellent 18 hole to friendly
village 9 hole courses. Embleton offers the
beautiful backdrop of Dunstanburgh castle ruins.

Tours Cycling - We are idealy located on the
coast and castles (route 1) cycle route, we have secure overnight storage for
bikes, an area where you can clean them off and packed lunches are available.

Although we are in the midst of the quiet countryside, Newcastle is only a
short car ride away (approx 45 minutes). You will
find excellent shopping in the Metro and Eldon Square centres along with
cinemas, night clubs and a theatre. A one hour drive North from us will take
you to Edinburgh and everything this beautiful Scottish city has to offer the
